Industrial OVENS

Improve cure timeS, Save space & reduce operating costs

Catalytic Industrial Systems manufactures industrial ovens for the needs of individuals and business  worldwide. The types include Gas Catalytic Infrared, Convection, Combination IR/Convection and Batch ovens. CIS gas catalytic infrared ovens are safe, efficient, and high performing and perfectly suited for industrial heating, drying, and curing applications.

CIS gas catalytic heaters burn gas at significantly lower temperature than traditional gas heaters, which means more even heat distribution. Our engineering team will design a system to generate the precise energy distribution and achieve a uniform cure for all of the components you process.

Infrared ovens

Process flexibility, long service life and exceptional energy efficiency.   The infrared energy is absorbed by the coating on the substrate first without having to wait for the mass of the substrate to reach the curing temperature.  This allows the paint to cure more quickly.  Gas infrared ovens can cure paints up to 10 times faster than convection which leads to cost savings on energy usage, smaller oven footprint, and increased production.

COMBINATION INFRARED/

CONVECTION OVENS

The combination of the technologies delivers enhanced results for powder coaters and facilities that process a variable mix of parts. In a combination oven, the infrared portion of the oven gels, or sets, the powder coating ahead of the convection oven portion. This accelerates the convection soak portion that completes the cure.

The infrared energy used in this ramp-up zone also prevents powder loss by gelling the finish before it can be disturbed by the air turbulence in the convection section. It can also help to prevent cross-contamination in facilities that use more than one color of powder.

convection ovens

Manufacturers look to CIS convection ovens as a leading choice for the uniform, efficient cure of solvent and waterborne coatings and adhesives. Convection ovens provide an excellent, highly consistent cure for powder coatings.  Convection ovens distribute heat evenly, and are well-suited to parts with complex shapes. Heat energy is moderate, rather than high intensity, so convection is compatible with many substrates.

batch ovens

They can be infrared or convection ovens that are used for preheating, drying, and curing. Preheat ovens prepare various metals, plastics, wood, medium density fiberboard or other substrates for your coating or adhesive process. Drying ovens help eliminate water or moisture accumulated during the pre-treatment washing process. Cure ovens help alleviate the part and coating temperature to achieve the desired coating cure characteristics. Batch ovens are ideal for small applications or job shops doing a variety of smaller parts with multiple configurations.

Paint CURING tUNNEL

Colorado Wind turbine manufacturer cuts cycle time from 4 hrs to 45 mins

Our customer had multiple manufacturing issues including long cure times and detailed specs of paint the supplier. Larger blades were going into the flash tunnel in stages which took over four hours to cure. This created a bottle neck in the staging area leading to defects in the paint after curing. The paint supplier required a defect free cure to guarantee 20 year life. CIS worked with the turbine blade manufacturer and the paint supplier, to develop a gas catalytic IR solution.

With extensive testing both at CIS’ factory and onsite, the paint supplier approved a solution to retrofit the flash tunnel with over 100 feet of IR heating. The 135 feet plus long turbine blades move through the tunnel continuously without stopping. Cure time reduced to 45 minutes, a 75% reduction in previous cure time. Staging bottle neck issues were resolved, and curing specifications of the paint supplier were met to get the 20 year paint performance guarantee.
